Scavenger Hunt at the San Tan

On Memorial Day Ger was out of town and Chris and Abby were hanging out with us in the afternoon... We couldn't decide what to do, so we came up with a plan! You can have your kiddos do this too...
1- Give everyone a piece of paper and a pencil
2- Time for 1-2 minutes- everyone writes on their paper ALL the things that sound fun to do
3- When the time is up each takes a turn to read their ideas
4- Compile a list of the top 5 ideas that were often repeated- or if there weren't a lot of ideas repeated take the #1 favorite from everyone
5- Vote on the list of 5
6- Do whatever wins the most votes!

After we went through that process we voted on a Scavenger Hunt at the San Tan. We were in teams of 2, had $10 total to spend for each team, we had to find something for both team members, and the winner would be whoever found the coolest things for the best deal that they would REALLY use. It was SOO much fun- we had 45 minutes and the kids LOVED it. They loved the one on one attention and loved getting to pick something out for themselves...

Team Name: Strawberry Shortcake Shoppers. Best Buys: Earrings for Abby at Forever 21 and TWO pairs of sunglasses for Mia at Children's Place

Team Name: Cutie Patooties Best Buys: A High School Musical Towel for Sydney at the Disney Store (once she saw it she KNEW that's what she wanted!) Earrings for Me!

Team Name: Team Blue Eyes Best Buys: The shirt Colby is wearing from the Children's Place (Chris let him try on a bunch before Colby knew this is what he wanted) and Chris unfortantely didn't find anything... He said there is no cheap stuff for boys, like there is for girls! He did end up with some super funny videos on his phone of Colby lifting weights at Dicks Sporting Goods!Everyone was a winner! It was a super fun way to spend the holiday. Chris and Abby are so creative and fun and we had a great time together. Afterwards we went to dinner and then to Walmart- at Walmart we each picked out a candy bar and came home and put them in milkshakes- YUM! The kids loved that and we were able to cross two things off our list.
Here are some other ideas we had:
1- Go bowling
2- Go to Savers and buy an item to wear bowling- prize goes to whoever finds the coolest thing for the cheapest price
3- Bike ride with a picnic to the park
4- Chuck E. Cheese (of course this was on all the kids lists- ha ha!)
5- Take a hike up Usery Pass- give kids a list of things to look for (Desert Scavenger Hunt)
6- Hot dogs/Smore Cook-out up canyon- Usery has a great playground even with firepits nearby that the kids love
7- Amazing Jakes (this place is way too expensive but the kids always are asking to go...)
8- Game night- everyone pick a game to play
9- Restaurant Hop- go to a different restaurant for each course of a meal
10- Go to the store and each be in charge of getting a food item for a meal for a certain amount of money- put together meal together at home with everyone's contribution
Well anyways, that's all I can remember right off! These were more geared towards afternoon/evening activities but we would love to hear any of your fun summer ideas!
