Grand Finales 4 Soccer, Gymastics & Dance!

Saturday morning started off with Colby's last soccer game for the season. He played great and had a great time! (until the last few seconds of the game when he was just a few yards away from scoring a goal and his shoe fell off. whoopsie. so sad.) Ger was his coach this year and did a great job! He is totally patient with the kids and made sure they had fun.Mia's game was next and it was getting pretty hot, but she didn't seem to mind and played hard and did great! She even played goalie for a while and blocked 4-6 goals! Her coach was so impressed and she was pretty pleased with herself. ;-) We rushed home to change the girlies into their leotards and rushed back out the door to their gymnastics show. They each did a floor routine, bar routine, balance beam routine (on a beam 3 feet high), climbed the rope and jumped off the mini vault. Mia was all grins and did great! Her confidence and coordination has increased so much- as well as her muscles! She's only 5 and has some buff little guns. :-) I don't think she'll end up a gymnast but she has learned a lot and it's such a good little way to expend her energy and even frustrations.

Syd did fabulous too and climbed all the way to the top of the rope!!! She's done it once before and was very determined to do it again. Her little muscles were flexing like crazy and she slowed down at the end but she didn't give up.

Then luckily we had a few hours to relax before the dance recital. Phew! It was at 4 so I had to start their hair and make up about 2 and we left just after 3... We picked up Brescia and dropped Colby off to have a date night with Susie and JJ. They ended up getting matching outfits... eating donuts... took pics... played on the playground at San Tan (an outdoor mall)... and even the playground at JJ's house! Colby had a great time.

In fact he loves his new outfit so much he hasn't hardly worn anything else since! He is sitting here on my lap right now wearing it today too. I might have to put it in the wash tonight once he goes to sleep since I know he is going to want to wear it tomorrow! Thanks so much for the fun Susie and JJ!

The girlies did great at their recital and had fun! The dances are so super cute- I will have to try and figure out how to post them off our videocamera... This is them with Sage- their cute friend that just lives around the block from us. They all LOVED wearing make-up!They performed two numbers- a jazz and a tap- and then at the end came in the auditorium through the aisles singing with light sticks. They marched up to the stage for the finale- so fun! They had a great time. Brescia was the girlies #1 fan this weekend, going to both gymnastics and dance. It's always so much fun to have her along! After the dance recital we all went out to dinner at Cheesecake Factory which was super yummy. (Thanks to Mom and Dad H for the generous bday gift card for Ger!!!) I got the Thai Lettuce Wraps for my meal (they are on the appetizer menu) and I highly recommend them- they are super tasty.
So phew, it was a great weekend! We were pleased with our kiddos and all they've accomplished and worked for- they've had lots of practices and rehearsals and stuck it out when it's been hard. It will be interesting to see what they ultimately stick with!

Good job Sydney, Mia, and Colby! (: It looks like you all had a busy, but super fun weekend. Is that Jason in those gym pictures? I took there, when he was there too. Haha, crazy!
