Father's Day!

We are so grateful for Ger! We had a great time celebrating him yesterday. The day started off great with yummy homemade cinnamon rolls (recipe below!) and being on time for church! "On time" in our ward is 30 minutes early if you want a soft seat- so we got there right at 7:30 AM. Wow. Just before we took off Chris took this family pic- of course someone is ALWAYS grumpy on Father's or Mother's Day- this year it was Colby. After church the girls served Daddy a yummy lunch of Chicken Salad sandwich on Rosemary Foccacia bread (thanks Costco- yum) and then we had a super relaxing afternoon. We gave Ger a basket full of his favorite things and then a scrapbook of "The ABC's of Our Daddy." (Maybe I will post some pages later???) I also had recorded the kiddos answering fun questions about Ger and that was funny and cute. Then that night for dinner Ger chose to have our Cafe Rio menu! Sweet pork, fresh cooked up tortillas, homemade salsa and guacomole, rice and beans from Chiptole, homemade cilantro ranch dressing, and all the fixings! YUM! Chris and Abby ate with us as well as Ger's sister Mindy and her hubby Brandon. They just moved here from UT so we are excited to have them close! We had a great night with everyone and played lots of games...We played the question game with the microphone- one person thinks of a character they want to be from a movie or TV show and the other person has the mike and asks them 3 questions to determine who they are. The kids love it! We did a few scripture hero's at the end which was definitely tricky for them but fun. The other games we played were Charades, Poor Kitty, and Telephone. The kids loved all the attention and everyone was great to play!

Mindy brought along her "pet" mouse- the kids get a kick out of him. She also brought a fun I Spy game to play with them and is so great to always include them and talk to them and play with them. WAHOO! We scored with having them move so close to us. Lots of fun times ahead.

So that was our Father's Day! How was yours?!?

Ok, what is your trick to get your family to church by 7:30? We have to be there by 7:45. We usually get there on time, but it is always a scramble. Cute pictures. Ger was definitely spoiled. I won't let Spencer see though so he doesn't know what he is missing! We'll see you soon.

It looks like Ger had a fantastic Fathers Day!!! You are so good to be at church be 7:30! I need to follow your lead, and do the same. I don't know what it would feel like to sit in the soft seats! :)
