Everything's Better with Chocolate on it!

WOW! We had so much fun dipping or drizzling just about everything with chocolate... from brownies to pretzels here are the pictures, recipes, and ideas!

Chocolate Carmel Sticks
1 bag carmels
2 bags Pretzel Rods
1 bag chocolate chips OR colored chocolate melts
2 TBS water
Sprinkles or Chocolate melts to drizzle with...
Wax paper
MAKES 40 CHOCOLATE CARMEL STICKS

1. Line a cookie sheet with wax paper. Spray with Pam. Unwrap all carmels (kids LOVE helping with this part!) and place them and 2 TBS water in a double boiler. (To make your own double boiler, put a few inches of water in a pan. Place pan on stove and set a bowl in a pan. This creates a double boiler. See pic- bowl must fit on pan snugly! You must use a double boiler for the carmel because it becomes sticky and firm so fast that microwaving it would only last for a few pretzel sticks and then you would have to microwave it again to get it to dipping consistency.)2. Stir carmels and water until melted.
3. Dip rods in melted carmel, using spoon if you need to, to get carmel about 3/4's the way up the pretzel rod.
4. Roll carmel rod against the side of the bowl to remove excess carmel and get a smooth carmel finish.
5. Place on sprayed wax paper (see above pic!). Place in fridge to set.
6. Next melt chocolate in double broiler.
7. Once carmel sticks are firm, slide them and the sheet of wax from pan onto the counter. Place another sheet of wax paper on that same cookie sheet. (It does NOT need to be sprayed with PAM).
8. Dip carmel rod in chocolate. Use a spoon to cover rod. Shake off excess chocolate well and place on wax paper.
9. Sprinkle immediately with sprinkles if you want to use sprinkles. You can even roll them in sprinkles if you prefer... I kind of liked them sprinkled on better though...
10. If you are drizzling, WAIT until after you have put them in the refrigerator to set. Melt chocolate melts in a baggie in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time, until barely melted. A few melts go a LONG way. I only melted maybe 15 melts for half the batch. Cut a TEENY TINY hole in the corner of the bag. Lightly squeeze baggie to drizzle chocolate across sticks. There are so many colors of melts you can make the Chocolate Carmel Pretzel Sticks for any occasion or holiday!

Once done they have set, you can put them in glasses tied with ribbon for display...

..,or put them in cellophane bags with a bag topper, like below, or just tie the cellophane bag with a bow! You can buy cellophane bags at Walmart for super cheap. Next project!
Chocolate/Yogurt Pretzels Drizzled or Sprinkled!
I've posted before on this... But here's a quick run down...
1- I buy my white pretzels at Sprouts. (This week they are on sale for only $2.49 a pound! GREAT DEAL!)
2- Drizzle with chocolate melts. (Directions #10 from above)

Even Colby LOVED doing this! Let your kids drizzle their own with their own little baggie. I put maybe 6-10 chocolate melts in his baggie and let him go to work. He had fun and was thrilled with his pretzels.3- If you would like sprinkles on them... melt white chocolate in small bowl in microwave. Pour sprinkles in small bowl. Holding the back of the pretzel, gently between the holes, dip very front or even the front half carefully in the white chocolate. Shake off excess and dip in sprinkles. Place on cookie tray or plate to dry.
Chocolate Dipped Oreos
Just as easy as it sounds! Dipping oreos goes so fast you could melt your chocolate in a bowl in the microwave if you prefer. Drizzle with chocolate or decorate with sprinkles. YUM!
Chocolate Molds/Transfers
On the cupcake and brownies below, the hearts on them are made from chocolate molds. These are Wilton's Heart Molds (see above!) available from any craft store for under $2. I melt my candy/chocolate melts in a baggie, cut the tip, and then squeeze into mold. MAKE SURE TO LIGHTLY HIT MOLD ON TABLE A FEW TIMES AFTER FILLING ALL CAVITYS TO GET OUT AIR BUBBLES. Do not overfill. Place in freezer or fridge for a few minutes to set. Pop out and place on cupcakes or brownies or cookies!

To make a chocolate transfer you just squeeze chocolate melts from baggie or frosting bag in shapes on wax paper. I did chocolate transfer hearts, but neglected to take any pics of them on my cupcakes! ;-( sad. But you can read better instructions on my blog by searching Hello Kitty or Party Hat.

Chocolate Dipped Ice Cream Cones or Ice Cream Bowls
Super easy and what kid wouldn't LOVE a cup or bowl dipped in chocolate (or a fun color with chocolate melts) and brightly decorated with SPRINKLES! Would be a fun addition to a birthday party or special occasion. See bowls above, lower right.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries Just as Easy!

Peanut Butter Balls
Recipe on those is on my blog already!

Brownie Bites
Make a pan of brownies, put them in the fridge after they have cooled. Use a small or a large heart cookie cutter and cut from pan. Drizzle brownies with colored chocolate melts or decorate with frosting and M&M's or frosting and a chocolate heart from the molds.

So pull out some chocolate and make something yummy!
